    Is there anyway to put categories on the main page of your website? Our categories and our other widgets only show up in a drop down box and we want to be able to put it on the home page.

    The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

    That is a design feature of the Bushwick theme.

    Slide-out widget area

    You can configure one optional sidebar by going to Appearance → Widgets. It will be displayed above the main navigation when the browser window is wider than 1024px. By default, the sidebar is hidden. To activate it, simply click the bars on the upper right side of your blog and your widgets will slide out.

    There are lots of themes which will display widgets in a left, right, or bottom sidebar.
