  I am trying to make a list of categories in the first column. They are not showing up on the blog after they are saved during editing. Can you help me fix?

  Yes, if you give us a link to your blog, starting with http. If we can’t see it, we can’t help you.

  Also be aware that categories won’t show up until you post something in them.

  You don’t have any posts, as best as I can determine. (I can’t get beyond the static front page.) Until you have posts assigned to the categories, the categories won’t display.
