  I’m brand new here, so excuse any lack of knowledge I may have of the site, but is there any way to categorize my blog as a whole ? For example, if I was looking for blogs that are based around cooking, is there something that the bloggers could do to identify their blog as a cooking blog, aside from using the tags? Thanks!

  Blogs as a whole aren’t categorized at WordPress.com, but they ARE at Technorati.com, so go there and claim your blog (use QuickClaim) and you can categorize it as you like.

  Maybe you could use “the cooking blog’ as your blog description, and use “cooking’ category to each and every one of your posts.
