  I am in need of assistance. I would like to create a category for recipes with subcategories of beef, chicken, seafood, etc. I have tried for an hour and can’t do it. Can you help?

  Hi there!

  You can create new categories here.

  Then, when you create a recipe/post, you can assign your posts to whichever Category it best belongs.

  I have done this but the problem that I am having is that all I want to show under categories is Recipes and when you click on recipes it shows the subcategories. When I create a subcategory they all show up as a category. Is there a way to change it?

  Hey there,

  I see. You won’t want to use the Category widget, then. That is not how this widget functions.

  Instead, you should create a Custom Menu, as is described here:
  http://en.support.wordpress.com/menus/

  Add a menu called Recipes, and then add all the subcategories to the new menu. Make sure you save the menu.

  Then, go back to your widgets page, and add the Custom Menu widget. Instructions here:

  This menu will not be a drop down, however. It will be a simple list.
