  how do I edit the names of categories? this is infuriating

  You can edit category name from your WP Admin screen. To reach that, add “/wp-admin/” to the end of your blog url. For example: cgirlfreedom.wordpress.com/wp-admin/

  From the sidebar, select Posts > Categories. On the right side, you’ll see a list of all the categories on your site. Hold your mouse over the one you want to rename and that will bring up options to Edit, Quick Edit, Delete, and View. Select the appropriate option.
