I want to either change a category name or delete a category

Aloha bethsage, You can update categories in your classic Dashboard; you can access this by adding /wp-admin/ to the end of your website address. For example, http://historycraftblog.wordpress.com/wp-admin/
You can then edit categories under Posts -> Categories in your dashboard. Move your mouse over a category and several options will appear that allow you to edit, quick-edit, or delete that category.

THANK YOU! I did not know how to get to the dashboard. The support page was only useful for creating categories, not changing or deleting them.
So now I have another question. I’ve made the changes I want, but on my homepage, they do not show up under “Categories.” How do I get that list to update? -
You’re welcome! Are the categories still showing up correctly in your dashboard? The homepage may be still be cached/saved locally. I would try checking the site in another browser or clearing your browser’s cache to see if that makes a difference.

That didn’t do it. But I accidentally solved the problem. The Catagories don’t show up unless you have a blog in that Category. Pages don’t count – it has to be a blog post.
