It’s important to understand that unless and until you actually publish a post with categories assigned to it there will be no data to display. Category widgets cannot display “empty contents”. Here’s the links to relevant support documentation entries for Categories, which BTW are treated exactly the same way as Tags are by search engines and here on the wordpress.com global tag pages.

I’ve created published a new page and I’ve also created different categories, but I can’t put the published page into one of these categories. Do you know what I mean?

I think you may be confused about the differences between Posts which can have categories and tags assigned to them and (static) Pages, which cannot have categories and tags assigned to them.

Posts are entries that display in reverse chronological order on your blog’s front page or the page you choose to change it to. Posts are included in category lists, archives, and feeds. Posts are always associated with a date, which is included in the URL.

Pages are for static content that rarely, if ever changes and can only be updated by editing them manually. Pages lack the Google juice that Posts possess and if you choose to create a Page structured blog rather than a conventional blog based on Post structure your blog will have a very difficult time when it comes to getting backlinks and achieving a PageRank.

    Pages vs. Posts

Thank you very much for your help.
Our professor at the university told us that we shall write a page and put it into categories. Tomorrow I will ask him about that.

    Cheers
