Categories added to the menu, not reflected when editing a post
-
Hello,
I structured my WordPress blog using a template, to which I added some categories on the menu. I then created my first post. Then I tried to put this post under a category, by clicking on ‘edit’ at the end of the post, but the drop down menu with the categories available doesn’t reflect the changes I made to the original menu from the template I used. Is it just a matter of time until the changes made to the original menu take effect? Did I skip any steps?
Thank you!

Okay so I have been playing around with my own site.
Write the post
Go to options in the post
Go to category
Add new category( as if its a fresh start)
Example: Food
Publish post
Go to menu section and create a new sub category(name it anything you want) under the page you want it to be displayed in.
Open sub category settings
Now when you open the category you want it linked to “Food” in category section of options.
Return back to menu and save it.Wait about 10 to 15 minutes for the post to publish under the category which is under the page in the menu section. Then check your website
Sorry but I only have access to the WordPress app.
I’m not even sure if this will help.

Thanks so much for your detailed reply, but I can’t find my way around the web-based editing tool…
