Categories and Pages

I am trying to add categories and delete pages – and in both cases I get a message saying I am not allowed to do this even though I am the administrator – can anyone help me out?

This is for a wp.com blog, right? I note that your username isn’t hooked up to a blog here. That’s usually a sign that you may be hosted elsewhere.
If your blog is here at wp.com, then send in an email to support at this domain asking someone to look into this. It may be Monday though until it gets looked at.
If your blog is hosted elsewhere, then you’re running different software and you need to be over at http://wordpress.org/support I would suggest doing a search first as it’s a much discussed issue.

I should be hosted here – I signed up through wordpress.com – Support has a message that they’re closed and to come back – I was hoping to resolve the problem before then.

No – the Support link at the top of the page – it tells me to please try back and in the meantime to try FAQ and Forums.

OK, that’s why I suggested an email to support. ;)
Support is monitored during the weekend. Staff has asked us to only send important things in via that method on the weekend. I would call this important though as something’s broken for you. For reference, a theme request can wait until Monday

You need to logout, clear the wordpress.com cookie, then login again.
If you aren’t sure how to do that, what browser do you have?
