Categories and pages

I would like to associate a particular category of post with a page other than the home page. (Like a regular website where you can put content on any page you like.) Is there a way to do this? Or do I really need to post them to a separate blog?

I know you cannot post to a page. But I’m wondering if there is a WordPress way of adding content to pages easily.

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

    Hi there,

You can use Category Pages to show the posts in a particular category on a different page. Those posts will still appear on your regular blog page, but they’ll also be listed on their own on that category page.

Please let me know if I can do anything more to help with that. :)

    That’s helpful, thanks.
Is there a way I can separate regular blog posts from these category posts — so they don’t all show up on the home page? And so that subscribers don’t get the additional content?

There isn’t a way to remove posts in a particular category from your blog page — since it’s all part of the same blog (just in another category) it will all appear on the blog page and be sent out to your subscribers. If you don’t want your subscribers to receive it, and you want to completely remove it from the regular stream of blog posts, a completely separate blog is really the way to go.

One option is to set up a second blog with the same theme, and then use a custom menu to link between the two blogs. That’ll make them look similar to your site’s visitors but still allow you to completely separate the content.

Another option, if you’re ok with setting up a static front page, is to have one category for one set of posts and a second category for the rest of your posts. That way, you can have a regular page as the front page of your site, with two category pages for the two sets of posts. (However, all of the posts from both categories will still go out to your subscribers.)

Thanks for setting those options out clearly — I can work with that.
