categories and private post

  My blog is private but I’d like the categories to show on the side. I can’t get them to. If I make the site public they show. Is it just not possible to show categories for a site that is private?

  Do you have the categories widget in your sidebar? Whether the categories show or not in the sidebar has nothing to do with a blog being private. Categories though will not show in the sidebar if they have not been assigned to at least one post.

  I do have the categories widget in my sidebar…That is really basic info…And I too have private posts and private posts do not show up in the categories even if logged in.

  Is the entire BLOG private, or just individual posts? Because if the blog is private the widget should still lead to the posts. If the posts themselves are set as private, one by one, then no, the widget will never lead to those posts.

  To let us check, please post the URL of your blog here, starting with http. If it’s private, we won’t be able to see it and then we’ll have the answer.
