  if, for example, the description of the category “Christianity” has words like God, faith, Jesus, religion, etc., will it show up in tags with those words?

  nope, it’s just your personal description of what posts are like in that category.

  Some themes use that description when you hold your mouse over the link within your sidebar. I’m too braindead to think of any right off though. I don’t think the category widget uses them either.
