categories and themes

  I have three categories in my traveling blog. I would like to have a front page that shows (with the appropriate image) but separates the three categories. I would also like each category to start with the first post in that category and to notify the reader if there has been a new post in that category or any category. Finally, those who have read to a certain point in a given category can start reading from where they last left off.

  If you change your front page to display a static page instead of latest posts, then you could display three images, representative of your categories, each with the appropriate link.

  To find this setting, go to Themes -> Customize -> Static Front page. It looks like this:

  So for example, an image representing Spiritual will open that link:
  https://omotis.wordpress.com/category/spiritual/

  This page displays all results in descending order by date (newest first). When you say “first post in that category” do you mean the oldest (first published) post?

  And so on.
