Missing Widgets
-
This FAQ talks about reasons that a sidebar will move to the bottom of the page: http://faq.wordpress.com/2008/05/30/why-is-my-sidebar-at-the-bottom-of-my-posts/ .

lizii and the sacred path …. I figured it out from the FAQ …. thanks for the speedy replies though
Every day I learn something new :-) -
My category widget is completely gone and has been for several days. Thank GOD I have the category CLOUD as well. It doesn’t show all three billion of my categories, but it does get most of the biggest ones.
I expect this is all in preparation for the upcoming changes. But yo, if the upcoming changes necessitate removal of the category widget I will be most displeased, and not alone.
-
the categories at http://ninblogs.wordpress.com/ stayed since yesterday evening as before, hopefully they won’t change back to “a” and the drop down.
-
I’m shocked. When I joined wordpress I expected them to be the best of the blogging options. Am I wrong? Is it really acceptable that there is a major problem and not so much as one word from the administration about it, even though it has been going on for days and presumably there is no end in sight?
I’m assuming there is no point contacting support about this since I gather lots of other people have, with no response whatsoever.
I’m seriously thinking about leaving wordpress. So, what are the options?
-
Cathy, I think your problem is slightly different from the one being discussed by others in the thread. As I understand it, your widget disappeared altogether. Mine, and many others, was changed to a drop-down form with the widget retitled ‘a’. This problem seems to be largely resolved.
If you find that on your Widgets page you can’t add a Categories widget, or it’s added but not showing on the blog, then that is a different problem and you should certainly contact support about it directly. Use the link at the top of the page or email support@wordpress.com.

I agree with cathychua. My are missing too- still. WordPress knows this is a major issue and they haven’t said anything. Not hang with us. Not its fixed, nothing.
What I see is a bunch of bloggers trying to reset and fix their problem themselves, which is fine, but I’d like to see some official instructions from wordpress.

Tried the suggested fix… didn’t work. Still got categopry drop down menu with the title ‘a’…. no doubt, WordPress are aware.

I’ve contacted support, it’s happening to me again too…hopefully they will address it.
I hardly ever hear back from them though.

I actually did hear back from them yesterday and mine is working again just fine (had to reset it myself though)…
-
My categories are gone again too. Will keep checking this thread for updates on this issue. (hopefully?)

Sorry for not making this sticky sooner. I’ve also udpated the title. We’re aware of a bug in widgets. If you are having a problem, please send us a support request and we’ll add you to our list so we can send you a message when the problem is resolved.
