Categories as search functions
-
I’n not sure if this is possible or i am misunderstanding what categories are for. on my blog http://istanbulrestaurantreview.wordpress.com i want to be able to search based on the categories a restaurant is in. ie someone wants to know what turkish restaurants got 2 stars. using the dropdown on “Turkish” to select “2 stars” brings up a 2 star restaurant in the international section. plus all the drop downs mean you can only search for something with 2 crieria. is there a better way to search within the site or is that not possible?

This is what’s possible at wordpress.com. The Categories you assign to your posts are used as tags in the wordpress.com global tagging system. If your readers click the categories under a post title they arrive on the global tagging pages.
But if they click the category in the Categories widget in your blog’s sidebar then they see only the posts in your own blog tagged with that category.
The wordpress.com tag pages can be searched like this http://wordpress.com/tags/Turkish
A google search can be done to Turkish restaurants site:wordpress.com -
