Categories: Can you show hierarchy for some but not others?

    Hi,

When displaying categories on the sidebar, can you show the hierarchy for some categories and sub-categories, but not others?

I currently have ‘show hierarchy’ checked.

Under ‘Travel’ I’d like to add a sub-category ‘UK’ and have that show on the sidebar. Then ideally I’d like to have ‘England, Scotland, and Wales’ as further sub-categories under ‘UK’, but NOT show them until after clicking on ‘UK.’

So someone could see ‘UK’ under ‘Travel’ and then when clicking on ‘UK’ the 3 sub-categories would come up first and one of those would then have to be clicked to show all the posts in the sub-category.

    Thanks,

No, it is all or nothing.

One option I guess would be to build your own categories widget using a text widget and then you could include only those categories that you wanted in the text widget. It would take some knowledge of HTML to get it to work right and look consistent with the other widgets, but it could be done.
