categories, capacity, preview

i have some questions…
firstly, we have limited capacity (3gb). can i somehow choose posts to be automatically deleted after a certain time period? also, is what takes up space the media or even plain text?
secondly, how can i make my posts show only the first couple of lines and not the whole post?
thirdly, i want to create a blog with dozens of article categories (sports, people, news, gossip etc). what is the best way to do that?
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

1) The 3GB limit is for images or other files uploaded to your blog (and 3GB is enough for several thousands of properly sized images). Text is unlimited.
2) Use the more tag:

If your concern is how much space you’re using, it doesn’t matter. Text use is virtually Nil.

I am concerned but not about my last question. what i want to know is what is better in order to categorize your posts better and guests to browse through them easier? with pages or just categories?
-
Categories (by definition!), plus the Categories widget in your sidebar.
A static page is like a post (just outside the chronological structure of the blog), and is meant for some permanent content such as an intro to the blog or a bio.
If by pages you mean category tabs in the header instead of the sidebar, that’s also possible – by creating a custom menu. But if you’re going to have many categories, it’s neither practical nor good-looking.
