Categories don't show though I've used them in published posts

  I’ve attached categories to published posts, but I cannot see categories in the right side of the page where they should be according to the demo.

  The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

  From the looks of it (at https://rowlingdemo.wordpress.com/2011/07/07/record-breaking-ticker-tape-celebration-in-manhattan/ ), the list of categories is actually a sidebar widget.

  In your dashboard, go to Appearance -> Widgets. From the available widgets, drag “Categories” to the sidebar (on the right), customize if needed and then click SAVE.

  Your categories should now appear on your site in the sidebar.

  Thanks for the tip; however, I don’t find Appearance in the first place. I guess I need to change the theme I’m afraid. I remember some themes had widgets. Or then I’m just missing something…
