Hi, How do I get my blog to display consistently one post at a time, with forward and back arrows at the top, like at this blog: http://erickoch.ca/2014/07/17/%E2%80%8Bisrael-and-palestine-could-learn-a-lesson-from-the-queen/ ???
    Thanks!

Categories will not display until you publish at least one post to which you have assigned that category. ‘Uncategorized’ is the default category that is set when you don’t assign one to a blog. You can set a default category of your choice also.

The size of the text is controlled in the toolbar area of your posts. You should see two rows of icons in your toolbar area. If not, click on the ‘Toggle Toolbar’ icon (far right) to display the 2nd row. The dropdown on the left of the second row will let you change the font size.

Those are basically your only options unless you have the Custom Design upgrade.

Well, I’m seeing that when I look at your posts. So I think it’s working for you.

About the categories: I have four posts originally Uncategorized, now successfully moved to the category Music. Yet that category does not show up in the Widgets area. I’m missing something here… thanks for help!

About the back-and-forward arrows at top: when I follow your link that’s how I see it. But when I get there by some other route, not so much:
    http://curmudgeonone.wordpress.com/
(Just an inconspicuous “Older posts” button at bottom, no shiny blue arrows at top…) Odd, two differing views of the same page… ???
    Thanks for help.

About controlling font size etc in draft of a post: you say “The size of the text is controlled in the toolbar area of your posts. You should see two rows of icons in your toolbar area. If not, click on the ‘Toggle Toolbar’ icon (far right) to display the 2nd row. The dropdown on the left of the second row will let you change the font size.” BUT I see no toolbar, and no “toggle toolbar” icon, far right or elsewhere. ???? Thanks for help!

Sorry, I’ve been out of town since last Thursday.
For the categories in the sidebar:
I’ve noticed that the categories dropdown in the sidebar shows up in every page (example) except your static front page. Have you perhaps changed the default visibility settings for that? You can check it by:
    1) Go to Dashboard > Appearance > Widgets
    2) Click on the ‘Categories’ widget to display the options
    3) Click the ‘Visibility’ button towards the bottom.
Do you have anything in selected there? Perhaps ‘Hide’ if ‘Page’ is ‘Front Page’ or something?

As far as the links go for your previous and next posts (back and forward arrows), I’m pretty sure that is hard-coded in to the theme itself. At least I can’t find any options to set it up.

I found some documentation for tweaking that theme and the links but they are for self-hosted wordpress.ORG installs. So they won’t do us any good, but it just makes me believe that the behavior for the different pages is controlled by the theme.

    The toolbox:

You should see a toolbox when you go to edit a post/page.

Do you see the Visual/Text tabs on the right? What happens when you click on Visual? They should show up.
