Comment faire apparaître mes articles uniquement dans la catégorie indiquée et non dans toutes les catégories ?
De plus, comment éliminer une catégorie ‘parent’ ?The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)
-
Hi @lesplusbeauxparfums , you can manage your categories here:
https://lesplusbeauxparfums.wordpress.com/wp-admin/edit-tags.php?taxonomy=category
If you need help adding them to a menu, make sure each category has at least one published post, and use these steps:
https://en.support.wordpress.com/category-pages/ -
Also, we noticed you have a few topics open about this. Please choose one, and if you need more help, reply there instead of opening a new thread.
-
Thank you for your time and advice.
I only opened a new thread because I as getting no reply and now I have plenty of comments coming at once.
Thanks again. -

I am now able to suppress categories, thanks to the link you sent me. But I cannot solve an important problem : even though I do publish each article under a given category, all my articles automatically appear in every single category !
How can I remove them and prevent this from happening ?
Talk about irrelevant content ! -
That does not seem to be the case. These contain different posts, for example:
https://lesplusbeauxparfums.wordpress.com/category/les-floraux/
https://lesplusbeauxparfums.wordpress.com/category/les-fougeres/Do note the blog page will display the latest posts from all categories. If you’d rather use a static front page, you can:
-
If I click on any given category in my side bar, all my other categories appear as well as all the articles they contain.
Obviously, I would like only the relevant articles to appear, not any other category, unless I voluntarily put it under a parent category.
I am also unable to make the reader land on the opening article, the only one in the ‘page d’accueil’.
Thank you for your kind patience.
-
Okay, I can see you have several category dropdowns in the sidebar. The drop down items work, but you do not need to display three copies of the category widget.
Did you intend to use each widget to display some posts from a selected category?
Or, would you like a menu that links to each category, like:
Les Fougeres
Les Floraux/etc. ?
-
The answer is that I intend each widget to display posts from a selected category.
I don’t want categories to be linked, unless they fall under a parent categorie : for e.g, puttiing ‘Les fougères aromatiques’ under ‘Les Fougères’ is intentionnal, but ‘Les floraux’, a huge parent categorie in it’s own right, has absolutely no place under ‘ Les Fougères’.
Similarly, an article, such as ‘Parfums, élixirs de l’âme’ should not appear on the side column anywhere but under it’s own category : ‘Parfums : histoire et philosophy.’
Once again, I only intend to use each widget in order to display posts published under that a given category. All the other posts fall under a category of their own.
My blog is conceived fron the top down : the first page (‘page d’accueil’) only hosts my presentation and every viewer ought to land there automatically rather on the latest article.
Then, at the top of the right hand column, the viewer research anything he/she wants by entering key word into ‘recherche’. The latest articles appear just below so I can imagine (s)he is aware of their existence. Then (s)he can view the different categories, archives and comments.
The categories are especially important. I intend to create between 10 or 12. Each one of them is designed to contain sub-categories and articles on relevant products but nothing else.
How can we make this happen ?
I am now going to follow your advice about how to create a static front page.
Thanks all the advice already given.
-
The answer is that I intend each widget to display posts from a selected category.
Okay, try this, then:
– Create a text widget
– Give it a title of Les Fougeres
– In the text box, paste this code:[display-posts category="les-fougeres" posts_per_page="3"]That will display the three latest posts in category=”les-fougeres” .
You can make similar widgets for your other categories. Here’s more info on Display Posts:

I have tried entering such codes all day and given up. It changes nothing at all to the content of my categories, but clutters up the article. I don’t understand why publishing an article, under a given category, does not make it’s name automatically appear there. Categories should not be dispaying categories but post !
This is a major problem, since it makes my blog unreadable : what sense is there in displaying categories under categories and not the relevant articles by name ? I can’t even remove the irrelevant material appearing under the categories !
The result is that my blog is not working. A reader looking for an article on a particular product cannot find it’s name under the relevant category, unless I have turned it into a category !
-
what sense is there in displaying categories under categories and not the relevant articles by name
Normally one would click on the category to see the posts for that category, rather than showing all of the posts for every category on one page.
Perhaps I’m misunderstanding what you want. Can you send a link to a page that has what you’re looking for?
-
I am not PURPOSEFULLY displaying categories under categories !
WHAT I WANT IS EXACTLY WHAT YOU DESCRIBED AND WHAT I DESCRIBED IN MY PREVIOUS POST.
Unfortunately, what happens is that when I create a category and then publish an article under that category it does not appear. On the other hand, the other categories do !
My only way to make an article appear by name is to make it into category !
I don’t know whether you can help. Yesterday I noticed the little ‘recherche’ box where readers could enter key terms has disppeared.
I have used the address you gave me to organize my categories but nothing changes whatever I do. There is a category I cannot even delete !
A friend of mine came over and said it was hopeless. Apparently I need a site, not a blog, if I want a logical structure rather than have my stuff appear by date.
So please tell me if what I want is possible and how to do it : articles displayed under 12 relevant categories. Otherwise I have the rest of the summer to set up a site.
-
I thought we were describing the same thing too, but I am more convinced than ever we are not. Shouting won’t help clarify, but a picture or a link might.
Please link to a site that has the feature you want so I can see what you have in mind. Or if it suits you, draw something that shows what you have in mind, and upload that.
-
I am very sorry for the shouting but I was at the end of my tether. I don’t know any site to emulate, but that is the whole point : I want mine to be the first of it’s kind in terms of presentation and content.
I will try to draw something tomorrow, because it is now late and I must put the children to bed. Or rather could a clear list of categories and the way they shoud work help ? I know exactly what I want but am unable to create the corresponding menu.
Thank you very much for your time and kind patience with a complete novice.
-
Okay, thanks. When you’re ready, upload the picture (including the words you want and where) and we’ll see if we can help you figure this out. If it’s something that is unheard of, we may not be able to do it, but we’ll certainly try.
