categories i don’t create appearing in my blog
-
dear all,
yesterday for the first time a category i did not create appeared in my blog. i deleted it, but it appeared again later and also after a second deletion, this morning. it’s named by a number (23989232), and don’t know what’s this and why it’s happening. does somebody can help me?
thanks
alexThe blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

That’s because you have deleted the original default category without setting another in its place. Go to Settings>Writing, select one of your actual categories as the default, save changes.

thanks for your reply, but that’s not the problem. i set a new default category, different from the original one, as soon as i opened the blog.
today the phantom category appeared again. -

I actually have the same problem. It does not appear in my widget categories because there is no post under that category. Only categories that have posts will appear in the widget category. However, it is one of the available categories in my admin dashboard. I delete it everytime I see it which is all the time but it always reappears. The category number that appears in my “Posts >> Categories” on my dashboard is 21871493. I deleted it this morning and it’s still there but then I delete it everytime I see it magically reappears. It’s not that big of a deal for me because it does not appear on my blog. I’ve had that there for ages and am used to seeing it. Now, like iladexxiii, I’m curious why it’s there in the first place.

Oh, I thought I did that. I am now over there and am not sure if it’s set properly. Okay, I want my default category to be “Word of God.” How can I set that particular cagegory to be the default that everything goes under? I’m looking at the different options and I’m not seeing where I can set that particular category as the default. That category has many things under it but apparently it’s not the default but the numbered one is.
I just learned to live with the number but if I can get rid of it, that would be great!!!

Or do I have to go to each category and put it under the “Word of God” category to make it the default?
-
Go to settings > writing and you will see a heading “Default Post Category” with a pulldown to the right of it. Select your default post category from that pulldown and click “save changes.”

as of this morning, the category did not appear on my dashboard. as thisrei said, we had no posts under that category/number, so it could not appear on the first page of the blog.
but, i still would like to understand why it appeared first. i already had my new default category set 2 months ago more or less, so that was not the problem.
if i could get why it appeared, i could manage the problem if this number will show again. anyway, for the moment it disappeared.
