Categories list order

Just starting out. I wish to put my Categories into a specific order, i.e., so that they appear in a specific order on the page. I have the most basic (Chateau) theme at this time.

Note that there is no data that can be displayed in a categories widget or on a dynamic categories page until there is one published post in the category.
