Categories main menu, and media screen elements option disappeared. On all server wordpress sites (see image)

    https://stamps.llamavision.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/01/Wordpress-Missing-Categories-1.jpg

We had entered the categories last night. Today we were adding the categories to the images. All was fine. Then all menus and categories displays disapeard from view.

    Data is still in database.

All VPS wordpress systems on this server are affected.
All vps server wordpress sites are stand alone
Installed a vanilla wordpress … still missing

    Site: https://stamps.llamavision.com

    Any assistance appreciated.

  • Happy Friday –

Looking at that site I can see it’s hosted on interserver.net. It’s not using our managed hosting environment from WordPress.com.

For help, I would contact them first. Otherwise, there’s a volunteer network available for folks who run their own WordPress installations, which is how you’re set up. That is available at https://wordpress.org/support/forums/

On WordPress.com our team offers a managed hosting environment. This means that we handle all the back end details of the site. Things like back ups, updates, security, spam, seo, ssl, mobile optimization, top notch hosting specs, and sorting out any errors or bugs that pop up along the way. When you run a stand alone WordPress installation, like what y’all have set up, then all of those details fall on to you – so instead of being able to focus on content you spend a ton of time and frustration fixing these sort of issues.

All of our hosting plans are available on https://wordpress.com/pricing/ If you think a managed environment is a better setup for the project and your experience level then we can talk more about how to move your site over and what’s involved with that process.

wordpress.com sent me here to post on community forum. and you send me back to them. I know where it is hosted I own the whole VPS server and support several WordPress installs.

This behavior was sudden and server-wide despite them being standalone installs. It looks more like an update broke it everywhere. Many of the sites have not been changed other than updates in a long time. It also happens on a brand-new vanilla WordPress install.

    Any assistance appreciated

    Hi there,

It looks like you have posted on the correct forum (The WordPress.org forum is meant for self-hosted WordPress.org sites like yours), and I see someone is already helping you there. :)

You can continue to troubleshoot following their suggestions and post your findings on that thread. If any of the volunteers on that forum recommend you contact your host for something specific, you’ll need to contact your VPS hosting service provider.

    Regards

Only minor issues were found, I will work through them just in case. Then run debug tools and report back after. Thank you
