Categories Menu on Studio theme

    Hi, there!
I´m using the Studio theme. I´ve created a menu based on categories. Have some posts (not pages) asigned to categories, and some of theme also asigned to a portfolio page.

Using the menu, when I click on an menu item (category in this case), doesnt display the posts asigned to the portfolio page, even if they are asigned to that menu item category. It only displays the posts asigned to the menu item (category) not asigned to the portfolio page.

Is it possible to solve this? I would like to see all the posts asigned to a category when I click on the menu item, even if they are asigned to a porfolio page….

    Thanks a lot

  • I’m not completely sure I’m clear what the issue is, but links to a post category will only show posts, not portfolio projects. Projects can only have project tags or project types associated with them, which in turn have their own archive pages. Projects cannot be assigned to a post category. Portfolio projects and post categories have separate “taxonomies.”

Could you give me a specific example of the problem using real post and category names (i.e. “Editorial”) so it’s clearer exactly what problem you’re trying to solve? Thanks!

    Hi, kathrynwp.
Thanks a lot for your answere. You have to excuse me, english is not my mother tongue nad sometimes is hard to explain this kind of issues…

I´m going to try to give you an example using the EDITORIAL category.

My menu is made using categories. Two posts (“El hijo del hincha” and “CHS Pumps”) have EDITORIAL category. One of them (“El hijo del hincha”), is linked to a portfolio page named HOME. The other one (“CHS Pumps”) is not linked to any portfolio page.

So, when I click on EDITORIAL in my menu, “CHS Pumps” post appears listed, but not “El hijo del hincha”. And if I unlink “El hijo del hincha” post from the porfolio named HOME, it appears when I click on EDITORIAL in my menu.

ThankS. Hope I have been morfe clear… Sorry!

Hi @urgrafica, when you set El hijo del hincha to “Home” portfolio page, that changes that post from a normal post into a portfolio post type and it will not show up on normal categories pages, even if you assign a category to it.

    Ok. I see.
Thanks a lot for your help.
I am duplicating the posts; one to set to “Home” portfolio, and the other one to be displayed on category page… Not very clean, but effective!

    Thanks again for your interest!!

You are welcome, but be aware that duplicate content can sometimes cause search engines to get cranky. Just something to keep in mind. As long as it is only a few duplicates then they shouldn’t get too cranky I don’t think.
