Categories mixed up

We’re having Category problems as well on our blog — redravine.wordpress.com — but ours are not related to heirarchys. Rather, during the last two upgrades, some of our categories got added randomly to some of the posts. Now with the latest upgrade, we got a whole bunch of new mix-ups. For example, the “Money” category is added to a bunch of posts that have nothing to do with money. That’s not the worst part of the problem, however. When we go in to clean up the post and uncheck the Money category box, we save, and then wa-la, there’s the Money category on the post. These randomly added-on categories are now stubbornly staying put even when we go in and try to edit them out. What to do? We have too many posts to delete these categories and then re-add them later.

Also, the term “blogroll” has been randomly added as a Category and we don’t know why. If we delete it — since we don’t want it as a category — will doing so delete our Blogroll?

Why are all these Category mishaps occuring as a result of the upgrades?

    Thanks, yb (redravine.wordpress.com)

Hi, I’m using ‘Cutline’ theme. I just created my blog 2 days ago. I am trying to get the Parent and Sub Categories that I create to show up on my sidebar ‘Categories’ widget. They look all created in my Dashboard, but nothing shows up in my sidebar widget except for the new main title for it. There are no drop-downs except ‘Uncategorized’. Help?

    Greetings to all,

I may be a little late in letting you all know that the problem has been resolved by the technical support guys here at wordpress. Sincere thanks are due to them, so thank you guys!

While being on a short break due to our Orthodox Easter holiday [this year we celebrated Easter Sunday on April 27] I received an email reply from wp support informing me that it was a temporary bug and it has been fixed. I trust that everyone of you has by now seen that the problem was fixed and that nobody still faces any problem. If however you see that this has not been fixed [for your blog] I strongly suggest to contact support directly.

I therefore consider this thread as “resolved” and closed.
