Categories mutation in Pilcrow

    I’m using the Pilcrow theme and noticed a while back that some of my categories have mutated so that, for example, I now have about 12 categories named ‘Transportation,’ with one of those containing over 100 blogs and all of the other 11 containing one blog each. How did this happen? And can I easily consolidate all of the 12 ‘Transportation’ categories back into the original one ‘Transportation’ category?

    That is very strange; I’m not sure how it happened.

    I have a suggestion for how to get rid of the extra categories & consolidate your posts, though.

    1) Use the instructions here to rename the extra categories something like “transportation-delete”.

    2) For each post that is assigned to those “delete” categories, go in & re-assign it to the proper “transportation” category.

    3) Once you’re made sure the posts all are assigned to the proper one, go ahead and delete all the categories you no longer need.
