Categories not showing in Nav Menu
-
Created a number of categories using the Twenty Twelve theme. Have added them in Appearance>Menus, and updated. Only ‘Home’ is showing in the Nav menu. ‘Home’ is a page. Categories are not showing up in the menu.
In ‘screen options’ on the Appearance>Menus, I have ticked the boxes for ‘categories.’
Any pointers would be warmly appreciated. Many thanks. The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

A custom menu displays what you tell it to display. If only Home is showing, then there are two possibilities:
a) The custom menu you activated contains only Home, and the categories have been added to a different menu.
b) You didn’t activate your custom menu, and the theme is displaying its regular menu.
For details on custom menus see this post of mine:
http://wpbtips.wordpress.com/2011/12/19/custom-menus/By the way, adding categories to your menu is pointless as long as all your posts have been filed under “Uncategorized”.

Thank you for taking the time to reply. Yes I committed the basic oversight of not not selecting it from the Theme Location Module. I’ll mark this resolved.
Thanks again. -
You’re welcome.
Basic oversight or not, it happens to many first-time users of custom menus. As I explain in my post, the term “Theme Locations” doesn’t really help, does it? -
You’re right, it doesn’t. ‘Theme location’ should say ‘Make sure you click the pull-down and select your menu, so that it shows in the navigation menu.’
