Categories not showing in widget

I have the Categories widget added to my sidebar in the Hemingway Rewritten theme. I have created 3 categories and added posts to each. However, the sidebar shows ‘No Categories’ under the Categories option. I also have the Recent Posts, Recent Comments, and Pages widgets added to the sidebar, but none of those are actually showing. Is this a bug with the theme, or is there a solution I can implement?

Unless or until you publish a post with a category assigned to it there will be no category display in the categories widget. Are you clear on that?

Thank you! So it will be visible, when I publish the posts. But as long, as it is private there will be no categories shown – Did I understand it right?

If the post is password protected or private or just a draft rather than being a published public post the answer is yes.
