Categories not working on wordpress.com

    I’m creating a new blog, with categories. I set up the categories, added the categories widget, and assigned my posts to various categories. BUT…on the live site, in the categories widget, instead of listing my categories, it says “no categories.”

    I read how this was a problem for people who had their own version of WP and had recently upgraded. Is the wordpress.com site having the same problem? Thanks–

    The problem is that you haven’t written any posts in any of your categories. Categories only display if there actually is a post in that category that can be displayed.

    Thanks husdal. It turned out to be that both my posts were set to “Private” instead of “Public.” Evidently, if there are no “Public” posts, the “Categories” list will show as “no categories” even if the private posts are linked to categories (as mine were).
