Categories on a Page?
-
Is it possible to put Categories on a Page instead of in the Sidebar?
-
Yup via two methods.
1) You may have lucked out and picked a theme that has a Page Template for categories. When you go into the Write Page page, take a look at the right side tab for Page Templates and see if they list one called either Categories or Archives.
2) If not, the only other solution is copy and paste the category list out of the sidebar when you have the widget installed. That’s what I do on my own blog here. It won’t show the post count and you’ll have to modify it manually if you add in any new categories but it’s doable.
Hope this helps,

Hi drmike!
1. No such default template luck with Freshy.
2. Oof! Thanks for the workaround!

Seems like most of the themes don’t have any Page Templates. Most theme designers don’t include them as they’re fairly easy to write.
-
And yet, as they really are that easy and quick to write you’d think they’d throw them in!

Agreed but I know some members of staff have stated that they wanted to change the themes as little as possible.
I’m going to be going back through and working on Page Templates for the themes that I have on my own WPMu install. If they want them for the themes we share, I’d be happy to submit them. *chuckle* Goodness knows I’ve swipped their themes from here. :)
