You can use a Categories widget to display them in your sidebar. http://en.support.wordpress.com/widgets/categories-widget/
-
Note that unless you actually assign the categories you listed above to the posts themeselves all the Categories widget can display is the default category which is “uncategorized” unless you change it to another one.
See:
Setting the Default Category > http://en.support.wordpress.com/posts/categories/#setting-the-default-category

I have a categories widget on the sidebar but if you click on that it shows uncategorized with the number of post I have. Is there a way to seperate the categories into a list of some type that i.e. you wanted to see something made with pork you would click on pork and it would bring up pork recipes????
I’d like something similar to a table of contents???? -
Please see my second comment above. You need to edit your published posts http://en.support.wordpress.com/posts/edit-posts-screen/ and assign your own preferred Categories to those posts, http://en.support.wordpress.com/posts/categories/#adding-categories-via-the-categories-module When you are done click “update” and then the Categories you enter will display in the widget. Thereafter you need to assign Categories of your own choice to each post before you publish it.
