Categories only point to my own archives
-
When I click the categories that appear at the end of my blog text, instead of being brought to the pages of others’ related blogs in the same category, all I get is an “archive” page of my own blog
The blog is only 3 days old. Any ideas?
Thanks.

Some bloggers who dislike the global tagging system would cheer if their blogs had this problem … lol :D

he-he, his blog still contains:
<meta name='robots' content='noindex, nofollow' />means it’s also well hidden out from the Search Engines view — not too much fun, though ;-)

@options
don’t get me started … lol
as you know i’m not geeky ^^
so i don’t notice “no follow” thingees or understand their function, right? ;)@trollfighter
Please excuse our jocularity. Mark is on the job and your problem is in great hands. -

Does selecting dashboard > options > privacy “I would like to block search engines” put the ‘noindex, nofollow’ into the theme or a separate file? I’m html challenged, so I don’t know.

DUH!
I was previously blocking the search engines, but I changed it to allow them. I updated the options, but thechange didn’t take. I just did it again and the change did take.
Now I can explore why :
not only can I not remove the widgets from the side bar, but every time I access the widget feature, another unwantwed widget shows up there….Thanks. Sorry I didn’t double check that that change had not occurred.

Yes, that’s what wp.com does to block the search engines. The setting also redirects the catgeory links within the posts to category pages within the blog instead of the tag pages. It will no longer send pings out when the blog gets updated as well.
edit: It places the bit you mention into the meta portion of the header.
