Categories – parent and added not showing on blog

For months now I have had trouble getting the categories to show up properly on my blog. I have added new categories as the default, and still, “Writing From the Heart” continues to show as the selected category in the drop down box on the blog posts. It’s GOT to be easier than this. I feel like I’ve tried everything. I have ten categories that I’ve tried to put under the parent “Writing. Loving.” I am absolutely confused. I’m not techno wiz, but I feel like I’ve done everything. Please!!!! help. And thank you.

Hi Sala,
I took a look at your Categories and I could not find any posts under those categories. You can do so by checking off Writing, Loving in the Categories module when you edit your post. Can you tell me exactly which post you want under which category?

Hi Grace,
When I go to all posts where all my posts are, across the top of the page are titles, author, categories, tags stats etc. When I click on categories all of the categories show in the drop down box. Let’s say I check the box next to “Truth. Apathy,”…when I do that and click on Writing Loving in the drop down box, nothing changes. When I click on a particular post, and look to the right where the tag selection is, there is no category module. Have I somehow gotten rid of the module? Thank you for your help.

Hi Sala,
When you are editing a post, go to the top where it says Screen Options and make sure Categories is checked off. If it is you will see the Categories module under Format on the right.
