Categories Post Display

Our blog is set up with a post and several pages. I want to get one of the pages (Photography) working like a post as I need to add ongoing information. However, the general information I have on the home page (post) is necessary also.
I have been reading about categories, but don’t quite understand how it looks on the blog. If I were to create a Photography category and post in that category, would each new post still show up on top of the home page?
I hope I am being clear. I guess what I am looking for is more like two pages to post on, and I don’t think that’s possible. That is why I wondered if when you add categories if only the main category is posted on front and the others need to be chosen to be seen.
My other option was starting another blog with just the photography and linking it from the Photography page I already have set up.

No that’s not possible on a wordpress.com blog. Posts and Pages are two entirely different “animals”, so to speak. Setting aside the Archives, and Categories pages, there is only one page we can post to in a blog. That’s usually the front page of the blog. It can be changed but when changed then all posts will display on that single running page for posts. http://en.support.wordpress.com/post-vs-page/

Would I be able to set up an entirely different blog just on the photography, and then link that “site” back to the photography page on my current blog?

Thank you. I was driving myself nuts trying to figure out if categories would work for me or not. This should be easy!
