categories question
-
Right now, all of my posts are posted in “uncategorized” and when you click on the category link from the blog, it pulls up a list of my other posts also in that category.
However, when I try to assign a new category, clicking on the link takes you to a list of WordPress blogs that are listed under that category.
I’ve tried using tags, but had the same problem. I want people to be able to click on the category and see just my posts within that category.
Does that make sense?
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

What you are describing is normal behavior. There are technical reasons the links on each post go to the Global tag pages, not the Local ones (ie just your blog posts). If you use the Category widget, then the links in that are all local.
The only ways to make all your category links local are to:
1) change your privacy settings so your blog is invisible to search engines
or
2) choose the iNove theme; it has a setting like this.
Either of these choices will hurt your standing in search engine results.

This is standard behavior at wordpress.COM. The tags and categories listed in the post will link to the wordpress.COM global tags pages. The tags and links in the tags and categories widget in your sidebar will link to your local tags and categories. The global tags pages are a big boost to a blog’s search engine ranking, and many people use the global tags pages to find interesting articles which means they end up coming to your blog and just might become regular readers.
There is one theme where you can turn off the tags and categories display on the posts, iNove, but that is the only one (theme options).
The other way to get those tags to go “local” is to set your blog to block search engines (second selection at settings > privacy). This of course means you will not show up in Google or the other search engines.
