Categories widget

@ timethief i read this topic ( Help with a re-format! ) and you said wordpress is post based structure so i take it the more posts you have the higher up the ranks you go ?
and then you said the following
What you need to do is simple. Publish posts and assign categories to them. They will be automatically displayed on your front page with the most recent post at the top. When any reader clicks a category in the Categories widget in your sidebar they will locate all posts in the same category.
i removed my Categories widget in the sidebar so i should put it back then
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)
-
Yes, the more posts you have (all other things considered) the higher you’ll go unless you’re posting dozens of things a day and staff thinks you’re a spammer.
Yes, you should put your categories widget back in your sidebar.
-
@raincoaster , thank you , but you cannot have a category and a tag with the same title i think i read that
-
you’re posting dozens of things a day and staff thinks you’re a spammer.
i find it hard enough to do one :)
-
No, you cannot have a category and a tag with the same title or you ARE tag spamming. Delete one or the other.
-
last question ; you can enter as many tags and categories in a post as you want as long as it fits all of above
i have seen posts with about 10 or 12
-
If you would like to appear in the global tags pages at http://wordpress.com/tags/ then you should stick to 10-12 combined categories and tags.
-
-
-
Not really.
You can test if your blog is in the global tag pages by just clicking on a tag or category that’s on one of your posts.
Adding: Harry, what the HELL are you doing? Each of your posts consists only of a link to a static page. I don’t have time to explain why this is a bad idea, but THIS IS A TERRIBLE IDEA.
Just write new posts with all the stuff right, you know, in the post.
-
you mean my post about fixing tap washers should have all that information it the post , just like a mini page
and a link to the main page
-
ok i went to your blog and read a few and i think i understand that people come to a site/post to read something and then go on to read more post or pages but if the post is empty its a waste of time , so i have to add content to my posts
tell me if i’m right please
-
ok , i altered the first post is it ok , should i remove the link to the page if yes how do
i add a <more> link to my page
-
Yes ALL of your content should be in posts, not pages. We’ve gone over this before.

That circulates a lot in the forum, but it’s not true.
“The more tags you use, the less likely it is that your post will be selected for inclusion in the global tag listings.” (Support doc)
“There is no hard limit. You can use as many tags as you’d like. Somewhere around 10 is a fair number, but that’s just a suggestion. The more tags you use, the less relevant it is to each of them, and thus less likely to appear on some of those tag pages.” (tellyworth)

@raincoaster , thank you , being new i forgot but i’m learning more everyday thanks to the answers and help here
@panaghiotisadam , i don’y intend to put over 5/6 tags i seen a post with about 10/12 in it and it to much
-
“The more tags you use, the less likely it is that your post will be selected for inclusion in the global tag listings.” is not literally true. It does not mean you’re more likely to be included when you use four than when you use nine.
-
@raincoaster , would you please check my first page of posts all edited ( 10 ) just to make sure i have them right at last , i thought it was to easy before :)
