categories widget help

  I can’t get my categories widget to display properly. I’ve tried going through your how to guide on categories widgets, it’s not working for me at all. is there a simpler way you can explain it? I just want it to go something like this:

  Category
  -sub
  -sub

  Category 2
  -sub
  -sub

  etcetera. but what I’m getting is the subcategories are the same under all of my categories. I have the words accessories and shoes showing up under travel, for instance. I’m so confused, please help! and as another note, how can I make sure that it’s posting to the right subcategories once they get up properly? because as of now, even though it shows my subcategories when I’m creating/editing the widget AND on my blog itself, when I had to post it made me actually add a category instead of listing what I already had. Thanks

  I checked your site http://yourcurlfriday.wordpress.com/ and found the following categories are displayed in the sidebar using categories widgets.

  ACCESSORIES

  • Accessories
  • Shoes

  OUTFITS

  1. Accessories
  2. Shoes

  TRAVEL

  1. Accessories
  2. Shoes

  Could you please tell me a bit more in detail what’s wrong with the above categories so that i can help you?

  Here’s the correct widgets view.

  The problem is that it says accessories and shoes under all the categories. I dont need accessories at all since that’s its own category already, and I really only need shoes under accessories, not outfits and not travel. And I have other subcategories I’d like to put under outfits and travel, but I cant seem to get any. I also need to know why I cant post to anywhere except “accessories” even though I have shoes as another subcategory, so I’m worried that even when the categories are organized properly, I still won’t be able to post to the one I need, since even right now it doesn’t allow me to post to both of my subcategories. I can only post to accessories
