Categories widget not working

I’m using the Adaption theme. The categories pull down menu widget in the left panel is not working. The categories display okay but when I click on a category, links to assigned posts do not display. I tried about 6 categories and none worked.
When I activated the Adelle theme for a trial test with another theme, the selected category did display linked posts.
In my 4 years of blogging I have never used the category widget myself so am not sure how long I have had this problem.
ps — I did search the knowledge base but found nothing directly related or helpful.

timethief — Thanks for the links. I’m definitely talking about the Categories widget on my blog using the Adaption theme.
Not sure how to further clarify my initial explanation of the problem except to give it another try. If you visit my blog and scroll down to the “Categories” label in the left panel, then click on “Select Category”, and choose any category from the pull down menu and click on it, nothing happens — that is, none of the posts associated with the selected category appear on the adjacent web page as they are supposed to.
As I said, the Categories widget does work as it’s supposed to if I switch to the Twenty Twelve or Adelle theme. If I don’t find a solution to this problem I’ll change to another theme.

Would you provide a link to one or two of your categories?
It looks like you are using only tags, but because I’m not familiar with your theme, perhaps some of your posts do in fact have categories.

@1tess, Thanks for your interest.
Most if not all my posts have been assigned tags and categories. I don’t think there are any duplicates between the two sets.I’m not sure how providing you with a link to one of my categories will help you because if you use the link in your browser it will probably take you to my blog’s login page.
And the link won’t work if you use it in the Search box on my blog.
But maybe I don’t understand what you mean by a “link to a category”.

But clicking on that category in your sidebar widget does not function.I’ve modlooked this topic so staff can take a look. If you subscribe, then you will be notified when someone responds.

Thanks for the report about the category dropdown widget not working. This seems to be an issue in several themes – we’ll keep you posted on a fix.
