Categories widget resets its parameters

    I’m having a (repeated) problem with the Categories widget.

    I select the widget to have following parameters:
    Title = Categories
    Show as dropdown = no
    Show post counts = no
    Show hierarchy = no

    When I do this, it shows up as it’s supposed to: as a list of links to categories.

    However, at some frequency (I don’t check it every day), it resets to another form:
    Title = a
    Show as dropdown = yes
    Show post counts = yes
    Show hierarchy = yes

    This is with no fiddling on my part.

    What’s going on? Why are these parameters changing values? How can I stop it?
