Categories….Posts Bin to All No Matter Settings?
-
Very new – signed up via WordPress.com today and spent hours building a blog site. No matter what I do, my test posts land in every category. I select a specific category, or list them as uncategorized, and yet they go to all. Except my latest test post – it goes to NONE. Have the same issue with pages but will defer that to another day. Not finding the instructions as intuitive as I had hoped and grateful for any help.
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Hi,
I just visited your blog and it seems like you were successful in assigning your desired category to the one published post.
If you’re still having problems, I suggest you look at the following support documents:

Hi @supplyguy55,
Seems your website http://thecarmaxunicornblog.com/ is a self-hosted website.
This forum is only dedicated to supporting websites which are hosted on WordPress.COM.
To get support for self-hosted websites, I would request you to head to WordPress.org.
Hope this helps :)
Best,
Khyati -
Thanks, Khyati but the .ORG site sent me here. I acquired WordPress from WordPress.com…..does it matter where it is hosted? Believe I will cancel the hosting and WordPress….this has been a horrible waste of time. Take care – Chuck.

Turns out my son was able to go to my site and fix in about 5 minutes. I was creating a new widget on the blog sidebar for each category rather than one category widget for all categories to fall under. I still don’t get the logic – would prefer to have readers see all the categories available at a glance rather than have to use a drop down. Guess I can’t get there.
Also puzzled that the process for managing my site through WordPress is different than customizing through my blog site. Which works best? Thanks again.
