Categorizing Comments

I’m sure the answer to my question is here somewhere, but I’m still struggling with all the new teminology on WordPress. As you might guess, I’m a newbie here. My techincal skills are nil, but I know what I want to accomplish, so I’ll just start there.

Is there a way to place posts into categories? My blog will cover a variety of topics and it would be much easier for visitors to go to different categories (topics) than to sift through days and days of posts.

I know this is probably a dumb question for most of you, but to me WordPress is mind boggling.

    Thanks.

I’m replying to my own post because I just discovered that I have already used the wrong terminology. I meant to ask if you can categorize “posts” – not comments — although I would like to know if that’s possible as well.

    Thanks.

    (1) If you do not assign categories to your posts previous to publishing them the default category automatically assigned will be “uncategorized”.
    (2) Comments are made in response to specific posts and linked to them. Therefore there is no capacity for categorizing comments.
    (3) This will introduce you to some basic wordpress resources.
    (4) This will help you set up and configure your widgets.
    Happy blogging!

If you go to your dashboard and then to “Manage” and then to “Categories” you can add and delete, move, and subcategorize all of your ategories fro posts from there.

You can edit older posts to add the categories to them.

When you write your Posts though, there’s a tab along the right hand side of your Write Post page that will allow you to check off the categories you want that specific post to appear in.

    Hope this helps,
