Categorizing my blog posts in their menu pages
-
Hi there!
I am currently blogging some posts on my blog.
I need help on how to categorize my posts in their topics.
So I made a menu of 5 different topics excluding the Home page.
I have made 5 posts so far on the Home page but I want them to be in their categorized page also.
Eg: On the Home page I have my “Italian Tomato Sauce” post but I want it to be available on the Food page.
So if viewers are looking at the Food page for recipes the posts should all be in there while the Home page is used as for updated posts.
Please help me!
Thank you!

Hi @colourfulfoosteps,
Here are the steps you need to follow to set up your category pages.
1)Firstly set up the categories for each topic you want to have, like in your case –– Beauty, food, journal, etc. You can configure the categories using these guidelines:
2)Edit the menu items by assigning them the same categories you want the posts to appear. Like in your case assign the Beauty menu item to the Beauty category. This support document will help you in editing your menu list:
3)Now just assign the correct category to the posts as well. In your case, you might like to assign the Beauty category to the “New Nail paint colors!” post. All the posts then should appear in the respected category the way you like. And the Home page will have all your Latest posts too. Here is the guide to explain the details further:

Hope this helps, please feel to ask me any other questions.
Thanks!

Hi pavanraheja
Thank you very much for your help!
I am very pleased with the new menu layout and made some added modifications!
I have another need of your help again, as the posts have been categorized how can I shorten it because it’s showing the full information of the post like
Eg: On my Home page it has the posts but you can click on “more” to read and I want this kind of setup to appear on my categorize pages for the posts instead of viewing them all and reading the full post on one page.
I hope I’m explaining clearly… If not please let me know
Thank you!

Hi @colourfulfoosteps,

There are a couple of ways you can manage your requirement:
1) You are using the Toujours Theme, you can control to view either your Full post or just viewing Post Excerpt. This theme supports Post Excerpts, and you can manage it by navigating from your Dashboard to MySites>Themes>Customize>Content Options. You will see an option of Blog Display with radio buttons under it:
a)Full post
b)Post excerptYou can select the “Post excerpt” option. Also, here are more details to know about Post excerpt:
2)If you would like to to have more control over the content you would like to display in the excerpt, you can manage it using the “More tag”.
It would allow you to truncate the content where ever you like it. You can learn more about it in this support document:https://en.support.wordpress.com/more-tag/
Hope this helps, let me know for any further questions.
Thanks!
Happy Blogging! :)
