Categorizing pages?

  Help! I understand the difference between pages and posts, but can pages be put into the same categories as posts? What is the difference between categories and parent pages? Thanks!

  No, pages cannot be put into categories.

  And I don’t exactly know what the point of parent pages is, so if someone could enlighten us on that point it’d be great :)

  Thanks! I’m wondering if parent pages are like internal categories for a particular blogs pages; whereas, categories are for posts? Are there like categories that are in an index for everyone? I’m still learning about how blogs work, so forgive my lack of understanding!
