Category “1”

  Why does category 1 keep appearing on my category list? I have never had a category “1”, will never use a category “1” and furthermore, I will need a category called “1”… So why does WordPress keep putting it on my category list?

  Can you give us a link to a post where this is showing up? I don’t see it on any of your posts.

  Because somehow you deleted the default category, but you have not set a new default category. Go to settings > writing and set a new default post category then click “save changes.” Then go to posts > categories and delete the “1” category.

  If the default category is deleted, then wordpress will keep creating a new default category until you set another default because posts must have at least one category assigned to them.
