Category and subcategory hierarchy and sticky posts

    Hi,
    I have set up both pages and categories and have created a menu system in appearance. See my blog in progress of being built:

    My issue is that I would like to have categories and subcategories display my posts and though I’ve assigned posts to the correct (and only one) category, they are displaying on the parent category as well as the subcategory.

    For example, under ‘Kenya’ my post of ‘Eldoret’ shows in the ‘Kenya’ category menu. Is there a way to stop subcategories posting on the parent category?

    I’ve also tried to make my ‘Kenya’ post sticky to bring it to the top as an alternative work around, but the ‘sticky’ post function is not working either?

    Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
