Category as a page linked to form the top menu
-
I have the Andreas09 theme, which allows me to add links to posted pages in the top bar menu. I want to have a menu item up there which directs users to the archive of a specific category (so it should function just like the category widget, but only for specific categories). Is that possible? So far I can only add an item in the top bar by posting a new page.
Thx in advance

Yes. Put the following in the title of the new page:
<a href="YOUR BLOG URL/category/CATEGORY/">Page Title</a>replacing YOUR BLOG URL with the main url of your blog; CATEGORY with the name of the category you want to link to; and PAGE TITLE with the title you want the page to have. Note that for some unfathomable reason, this only works if the page title includes a space. If you want a one word title, put a space after it and before the closing code.

When I make the title of a page into a link – it places a titleless menu item right next to the menu item which acts as the link. So I get two menu items. The titleless one refers to the created page. The titled one leads correctly to the category ressource. How do I remove the titleless one?

I’ve never heard of that before; wonder if it’s a function of the theme or if something went wrong at the moment of posting. These instructions might help:
-
Also: it’s much easier to help you if you link your name to your blog so we can see it. Follow the instructions in this thread:
-
the blog adress is: http://namadikredsen.wordpress.com
it is in Danish sorry. But you will see the “titleless” menu item to the immediate left of the item “Ressourcer”
-
I see it just to the left. It goes to
http://namadikredsen.wordpress.com/test-ressourcer/Whereas the other one goes to
http://namadikredsen.wordpress.com/category/ressourcer/so I would think under Manage->Pages you would see one called Test Ressourcer and you can just go ahead and delete it.
-
But the page “Test Ressourcer” has the title with the link. So if I delete it the link would be deleted as well, I think.
-
It’s a link to a completely different page is what I’m saying. You should be able to delete it without problems. If it does cause problems, are they worse than having the pointless page there? All it is is a static page with some html code on it which doesn’t even work as a live link.
-
ahhh interestingly: Under manage pages I have no option of editing the page “test-ressourcer” I only have a pgae called “Ressourcer” and the edit-link point directly to http://namadikredsen.wordpress.com/category/ressourcer/

Then contact staff directly via your Dashboard and they can sort it out for you and perhaps explain what happened.

I see this page when I click on the blank menu item: http://namadikredsen.wordpress.com/dummypage/
Is that one you can delete?

Hi I just started from scratch again before I contacted support. The dummypage now is called http://namadikredsen.wordpress.com/ressourcer/ but the problem remains. I can’t delete the dummy page … Well it’s off to support now :-)
