Category cloud – full post vs excerpts

I have the Category Cloud widget on my blog- with Coraline theme, When I click on any of the categories it brings up the full posts for that category. The same happens when I click on the monthly archive. However when I use the Search Widget I get excepts of the relevant post. Since I include a lot of photos in most of my posts this creates rather long pages and I’d prefer if the categories and monthly archives brought up excerpts. I want to keep full posts on the main page.
Is it possible to do this in this theme?
