Category fail
-
Really made a mess of it…I choose various category tags that didn’t satisfy me. So I decided to skip Category altogether, but in an earlier stage I already deleted the standard ‘Uncategorised’. Now there is no longer a ‘category’ widget option on the page and also not in the tool itself nor in the text editor. Obviously my template (Dusk) does have built-in urge to categorize.
I’ve tried to add a new category, the one that finally held is (a non-linking) ‘uncategorized’.
It has no ‘delete’ option anymore, though. That’s fine with me, but under the topic title next to the new ‘Uncategorized’ (note the capital; not my feed) there now is also a linkable tag name from earlier choice; (–) featured, as you can see here:

Which I cannot delete as the check box for (–) does not show up via the widget bar and is neither available in the categories tool, showed here:

So next to the tedious job of reverting all my posts to ‘uncategorized’, I don’t even know a way to do that…OK, it’s not a big thing.. It just irks me to see this fault now featured forever.

OK, in my latest post the ‘uncategorized’ seems to have firmly set foot in the lay-out system, but that leaves the problem of all previous posts. How can I revert them to the overall ‘uncategorized’ tagname? In one go, that is?

You can use the bulk edit feature. Go to posts > edit, click on the checkbox in the left end of the top bluish-grey bar. Then click on the bulk actions pulldown and select “edit” and then click the “apply” button. In the window that opens, select the uncategorized category and then click “update posts.” Continue that for each page of posts until you have them all categorized.
Also, go to settings > writing and make sure that “uncategorized” is selected as the default post category.
