Category Help!

I have been trying to change my post from saying it is published under “uncategorized” to the category I created for it. I’ve taken all the correct steps, of creating a new category, checking the box next to it and unchecking the “uncategorized box” and yet it will not change when I preview it. Also, curious can I delete categories, since I’d rather not have an uncateogized category!

Yes, you can delete categories, but before you delete Uncategorized, you have to go to Dashboard->Settings->Writing and designate a different category as your default.

A default category (“uncategorized”) will be assigned to published posts if you don’t specify one. The name of the default category can be changed under Settings > Writing in your dashboard. See here if you need step by step insttructions > Setting the Default Category like raincoaster described.

thank you! I actually finally figured it out. NOW, what I cannot seem to figure out is when I insert my photo gallery to my post, it shows up when I click preview and when I publish it and go to the published page it says there are 6 photos available in this gallery but they are not viewable to the public! Any ideas?
