Category Hierarchy

  Hi-I want to set the category widget so that it appears on the site/blog in a hierarchy type fashion. I want the subcategories of ‘Whole chicken’ and ‘Chicken Bone Broth’ to appear underneath the main category, ‘Instantpot.’

  I’ve looked up how to do it, but when I go to my dashboard to follow the directions, I don’t have that option. Here’s the link where I found the instructions: https://wordpress.com/support/wordpress-editor/blocks/categories-block/ (It’s about half way down the page under ‘Category Settings.’

  Is there another way I can do this? Can you help me with the settings?

  Hi Laura, can you confirm which site you need help with? You should have a categories block, but I wonder if your widgets aren’t accepting blocks.

  Can you also try (just as a test) going to https://wordpress.com/post and ensuring that if you type /categories on its own line that the categories block option is available there with the settings indicated? You can discard the post as soon as you’ve confirmed. It’s just a test to understand whether the issue is with widgets on your site, or the categories block in general.
